Concerned Netizen Earns Admiration for Helping Man Collecting Junk to Eat
A concerned netizen shared the touching story of a man named Marvin Campos, who collects scrap materials just to afford a meal.
Recently, Bryan Tangtang, a Facebook user, shared photo of a man collecting junk to earn money and buy food. The post immediately spread like wildfire on social media and elicited comments from netizens.
Marvin, a 32-year-old from San Antonio, Zambales, came to Manila in search of a better life. A friend had brought him along, promising job opportunities, but unfortunately, only the friend was able to find work.
Left with nowhere to go, Marvin was abandoned and forced to survive on his own. With no job and no home, he turned to scavenging, collecting plastic bottles and other recyclables to sell for a small amount of money barely enough to buy food.
Tangtang spotted Marvin searching through trash bins near Molino Road. When the man noticed someone eating at a nearby eatery, he did not ask for money but instead humbly requested food.
Moved by this, the netizen invited him to eat at the same table. As Marvin took a few bites, tears started falling from his eyes. When asked if he was okay, he quietly admitted that his last meal had been the previous afternoon.

During their conversation, Marvin shared his struggles in finding work. He tried applying for construction jobs but was turned away due to missing requirements. Though he was trying to save money for a trip back home, hunger often forced him to spend whatever little he earned.
The concerned netizen gave him money for food and transportation back to Zambales. Marvin held his hand and thanked him while crying. The post ended with a plea for others to help Marvin if they ever see him, whether by offering food, water, or any form of assistance.
