In an interview, TJ Monterde opens up about the time when he was struggling in his career.
“Palagi” singer TJ Monterde shares how KZ Tandingan treated him during the time when he was struggling in his career.
Indeed, having a partner who is supportive, patient, and understanding of your dreams and goals is life’s greatest blessing. Someone who is not only by your side but also the one who lifts you and inspires you to do it because that person knows it will make you happy.
Lucky enough for TJ Monterde, this person has been with him all along and this person has been his wife for five years now – KZ Tandingan.
In an interview with Karen Davila, the “Palagi” singer opened up about the struggles they met in their relationship and he recalled the time when he was struggling in his career. It was early in their marriage when he really struggled as an artist and by saying this, he also struggled financially.
When they got married, they bought this house together and he felt bad as when it came to the finances, it was KZ who put more. For a time, it was KZ who took on the role to provide for them and he felt about it as the head of the house. It was supposed to be him.
However, despite her shortcomings, there was never a time when his wife made him feel bad about it.
“Not even once. Never ko na-feel ‘yung masabi niya sa akin na, ‘Ikaw naman, ikaw ang lalake dito.’ Wala akong naramdaman na ganun. That’s one thing I really appreciate about her,” he said.
He was apologizing to her and was even praying and asking, “Lord, pang-kuryente at tubig na lang ba talaga ako dito? Paano kaya ‘to, Lord? Paano ko kaya maaabot yung ako naman ang magbabayad ng monthly namin na malalaki or magbabayad ng kotse, ganun?”
Instead of nagging at him or forcing him to do something, she was encouraging. She encouraged and planted seeds of positivity and hope in him that one day, he was going to make it and he did. She never left when he needed her and she never made him insecure. Now, he can finally do more, still with her.
“May tiwala talaga siya sa akin,” he said based on the interview.
