TikTok personality Aira Lopez has spoken up about her relationship with Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste, addressing concerns over their significant age gap. Weeks after making their romance public, Lopez took to Instagram Stories on Sunday, February 16, to express her views on dating mature partners.
Lopez, who is 28 years younger than Leviste, questioned why age gaps in relationships remain a controversial topic.
“I don’t know why, until now, age gaps in relationships are still a big problem for people. Yes, there’s a 28-year age gap,” she wrote.
She emphasized that she prioritizes qualities such as maturity, intelligence, hard work, and respect over someone’s age.
“But I’d rather choose a mature, smart, hardworking, and respectful partner over someone my age who lacks the ability to treat a woman well,” Lopez stated. “After all, drama and headaches often come with someone our age. Haha! #aminin”
Her comments resonated with many of her followers, some of whom shared their own experiences in similar relationships. Lopez expressed gratitude for their support, clarifying that she was not advocating for age-gap relationships but merely acknowledging that they exist and often work well.
“Thank you for your thoughts! Just to clarify, I’m not suggesting or encouraging anyone to date someone older. I’m simply saying that it’s a reality, it happens, and often, it works,” she explained.
Lopez and Leviste confirmed their relationship in January 2024, when the politician asked the content creator to be his girlfriend over a romantic dinner. Their romance has since been in the public eye, especially after their Valentine’s Day trip to Hong Kong for an overnight getaway.
Prior to dating Lopez, Leviste was in an on-and-off relationship with actress-host Kris Aquino. Their relationship officially ended in November 2023. Now, with Lopez by his side, Leviste appears to have moved on, while Lopez remains firm in her choice of a mature and supportive partner.
