This issue surfaced after the death of Barbie Hsu
South Korean DJ-producer Koo Jun-yap, the husband of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, spoke about the alleged money issue.
Barbie’s death shocked many countries in Asia in which she became popular because of her Shan Cai character in the hit 2001 series Meteor Garden. She showcased her acting prowess by making viewers laugh and cry with her character.
In the Philippines, Barbie is a well-loved celebrity. Many Pinoy fans who are “Batang 90s” were saddened by the news that she passed away at the age of 48 during a vacation in Japan with her family.

Several Pinoy celebrities also expressed sadness through their social media posts and reminisced about how the Taiwanese actress became part of their lives.
Days after Barbie Hsu passed away, her husband broke his silence, based on the article in PEP. In an Instagram post on February 6, written in mixed Korean and Chinese, DJ Koo called his wife “Seo Hee-won,” Barbie’s Korean name.
The disc jockey expressed gratitude to everyone who mourned his wife’s death. He said that he is going through a “time of indescribable sorrow and pain, and a time of heartbreaking pain.”
DJ Koo also said that he had no strength to do anything and he did not want to say anything but even before mourning for Barbie’s death ended, “devilish people” already started to slander his family.
With what he said, it appeared that allegations about money issues surfaced after Barbie’s death.
“Some people pretend to be sad and walk around in the rain, and others try to hurt our family by creating fake news about insurance and expenses. I am afraid that such evil people really exist in the world,” DJ Koo said.

International news sites have been reporting about the supposed money issues. Media outlet Mirror Media reported that the late actress received $19M from the assets that she and her ex-husband Wang Xiaofei divided while news outlet Sohu reported that Barbie’s two children have a 720-square-meter villa from her ex-husband.
DJ Koo said that he would turn over Barbie Hsu’s assets to his mother-in-law. “All of that legacy was saved through the sweat and tears of Hee-won while she was alive to protect her beloved family, so I plan to give all authority over me to my mother-in-law,” Barbie’s husband said.
He added that he would take legal action to protect his children until they become adults.
