Darryl Yap said that this is Pepsi Paloma movie’s “kapalaran”
Director Darryl Yap shared the letter from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) addressed to the distributor of the Pepsi Paloma movie.
The movie attracted controversy, especially when the teaser was released mentioning the comedian-host Vic Sotto’s name. Atty. Enrique dela Cruz, Vic’s legal counsel, said in an interview after the court ordered Darryl to take down the teaser, that the director admitted that he spliced the teaser and that the comedian-host did not r@pe Pepsi Paloma.
On January 29, MTRCB released a statement clarifying that the Pepsi Paloma movie is not yet being reviewed by the agency because it had to comply with several requirements first. The agency stressed that it is strictly following the process for movie reviews.
On the same day, Direk Darryl Yap shared the letter from MTRCB that was sent to Jose R. Olinares, Jr., the President of PinoyFlix Films and Entertainment Production, the distributor of the Pepsi Paloma movie.
It was stated in the letter that with the controversies surrounding the movie and as cited in Section 3(c), Paragraph VII of the Presidential Decree No. 1986, prior to the review, some requirements should be followed.
The movie distributor should secure a certificate or clearance that it has no pending criminal, civil, or administrative cases filed under the Muntinlupa TRC, DOJ, and Office of the City Prosecutor in Muntinlupa City.
However, MTRCB clarified that this is not prohibiting the release of the movie. “We just need to ensure that there will be no violation of the P.D. No 1986 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
Direk Darryl Yap shared this on his Facebook page with this caption, “Ang Kapalaran ng #TROPP #TROPP2025 The R@pists of #PepsiPaloma.” In the comment section of his post, the director wrote “Narito ang liham ng MTRCB sa aming distributor; nawa’y maipaliwanag ng mga may alam sa batas. Maraming Salamat.”
