Jennylyn Mercado had this acting stint before ‘StarStruck’
Ultimate Star Jennylyn Mercado recalled her first TV appearance and this was in a series featuring A-list stars John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.
Jennylyn rose to fame after winning StarStruck’s first season’s Ultimate Female Survivor. From that, she has done a lot of projects under her home network.
Just recently, she signed a new contract with GMA Network months after the rumors circulated that she would transfer to ABS-CBN.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Balita, Jennylyn Mercado revealed that she already had an acting stint before joining the Kapuso talent search. It was a teleserye of former loveteam partners John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.
Jennylyn had a cameo in the series Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay which aired from 2002 to 2003. “‘Yong eksena namin ni John Lloyd, ito ‘yong pinakauna kong guest appearance. Wala pa ako sa StarStruck noon, so parang ang Tita Becky [Aguila] ang sabi lang e, kailangan ng kaeksena ni John Lloyd,” she said.
The Kapuso actress thought that it was just a short appearance without dialogue but that was not what happened.
“Akala ko naman extra lang ako, maglalakad lang ako ganyan tapos mag-hi or nabangga lang. ‘Di ko naman alam na pagseselosan pala ako ni Bea dito with English lines,” the Kapuso actress said.
In 2016, Jennylyn and John Lloyd had their reunion project. It was the movie Just The 3 Of Us which was directed by Direk Cathy Garcia-Sampana.
Meanwhile, Jennylyn Mercado mentioned in an interview that she is also an Ultimate Survivor in real life because of the hardships she went through. She shared that the toughest time in her life was when she had her first child Jazz. The actress had to return to showbiz immediately as a breadwinner. Around that time, she also lost her father.
