Family in Iloilo Mourns Their Beloved Dog Killed with Ice Pick
ANIMAL CRUELTY – A dog in Iloilo was stabbed with an ice pick by an outsider and passed away in front of its owner.
A family in Iloilo City is heartbroken over the death of their pet dog, Oreo, who they treated as a cherished member of the family. Oreo was fatally attacked with an ice pick, reportedly by a man who was just a visitor in their neighborhood.
According to Vilma Ubaldo, Oreo’s owner, the dog often went outside their house to relieve himself but always returned safely. However, Oreo came back covered in blood. Despite Vilma’s efforts to comfort him, Oreo passed away in her arms.
Upon inspecting Oreo’s body, they discovered that he had been stabbed with an ice pick, causing a deep wound that reached his intestines. He also suffered a fractured rib. Vilma described Oreo as a loving and gentle dog, making it even harder to accept his sudden and violent death.
“Nawala siya sa mga kamay ko pa. Ang sakit, hindi ko matanggap,” Ubaldo said.
Witnesses revealed that a man, reportedly a stranger attending a birthday party in the area, had stabbed Oreo. The Ubaldo family has filed a complaint with their barangay and confronted the suspect during a preliminary meeting.
The barangay chairman, Joe Maloto, stated that the suspect must be held accountable for his actions. “Kung ano ang pumasok sa kaniyang utak, pananagutan na niya ‘yan,” said Maloto.
The family plans to pursue charges under the Animal Welfare Act against the suspect, who has since avoided giving any official statement.
Another meeting is scheduled next week, where the Ubaldo family hopes to seek justice for Oreo.
