Senior Citizen Saved by Medical Team After He Accidentally Swallowed His Dentures
DENTURE – A senior citizen who accidentally swallowed his dentures was saved by a skilled medical team.
A denture is a removable appliance designed to replace missing teeth and the tissues around them. It helps people chew, speak, and smile more comfortably and confidently. Dentures are typically made from materials like acrylic, metal, or a mix of both and are custom-made to fit the shape of the wearer’s mouth.
To keep dentures in good shape and ensure they fit well, it’s important to clean them regularly and visit the dentist for check-ups.

Recently, an 81-year-old man from Peru had his life turned upside down when he accidentally swallowed his dentures, causing them to get stuck in his throat. Thankfully, a skilled medical team came to the rescue and saved him just in time.
The incident began when the elderly man experienced persistent pain and difficulty breathing for four days. Concerned about his worsening condition, he sought medical help at a nearby hospital.
Upon examination, an X-ray revealed that the cause of his discomfort was his dentures were lodged in his throat.

The elderly man was immediately transferred to Sabogal Hospital for specialized care. There, a team of surgeons carefully removed the dentures during a delicate medical procedure. The operation was a success, and the man began his recovery shortly afterward.
A few days later, the senior citizen was discharged from the hospital, relieved, and on the road to full recovery. The incident reminds the denture wearers to exercise caution and seek immediate medical attention if unusual symptoms arise.
The case emphasizes the need for awareness and care when it comes to managing common issues among the elderly, ensuring they remain safe and healthy in their daily lives.
