Mom Vents Frustration Over Low Grades Given by Teachers to Her Sick Child
A mom has expressed her frustration online about her child’s low grades, attributing them to a lack of consideration for his illness.
Recently, Lynne Mangaring, a Facebook user, shared her disappointment over the low grades given to her sick child. The post immediately spread like wildfire on social media and elicited comments from netizens.
Mangaring, a concerned mom, explained her son’s struggle with nephrotic syndrome, a kidney disease that kept him out of school for over a month. Following medical advice, Lynne ensured her son stayed home to rest while undergoing treatment.

Lynne informed his teacher and suggested doing module-based lessons at home, but the school decided to let her son restfully and handle his missed lessons through remedial work later.
When her son returned to school a week before the first periodic exams, Lynne noticed he wasn’t receiving additional support or guidance to catch up on missed lessons. As expected, the exams were challenging for him.
Out of all the subjects, he passed only Filipino and ESP (Values Education). When report cards were distributed, Lynne was heartbroken to see her son’s grades, especially in math, a subject he loved. She felt the drop in his grades was unfair given the circumstances.

Despite efforts to discuss the situation with his teachers, Lynne was told that nothing could be done as the grades were already finalized. Her concerns centered on her son’s transcript and how it would reflect his academic ability unfairly.
The mom felt frustrated by the lack of empathy and understanding from some teachers, who, she believed, didn’t fully consider her child’s health struggles.
