Fish Vendor at Pasil Market in Cebu Robbed While Fast-Asleep
A poor fish vendor was robbed while fast asleep during the quiet hours of the night at the Pasil Fish Market.
On early Wednesday morning (January 15, 2025), an unfortunate incident occurred at the Pasil Fish Market when a fish vendor was robbed while he was sleeping. Surveillance cameras captured the incident showing the suspect’s illegal activity.
The video footage shows Benjamin Rama, a 58-year-old fish trader, peacefully resting on the market floor when an unidentified man in a blue shirt quietly entered the scene. The thief cautiously scanned the area to ensure no one was watching before quickly taking money from the unsuspecting victim.

The incident took place at around 1 a.m., a time when many market workers paused to take a rest after a busy night. Unfortunately, this break turned costly for Rama, as the thief took advantage of the situation to execute the theft undetected.
The Pasil Fish Market is a busy hub for local traders and fishermen, but its open and active environment also makes it a vulnerable spot for such crimes. Despite the thief’s attempt to get away, the surveillance cameras provided clear evidence of the incident.
Local authorities are now actively pursuing the suspect. With the help of the surveillance video, they are hopeful that the culprit will soon be identified and held accountable.

The incident advised the public to always remain vigilant, even in familiar and seemingly secure places. It has also shown the importance of installing and maintaining security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Everyone, from vendors to market-goers, is urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to help keep the area safe.
