Lawyer of Director Darryl Yap Speaks on Controversial Pepsi Paloma Film Teaser Issue

DARRYL YAP – The lawyer of the controversial filmmaker claimed that his client sent Vic Sotto a copy of the script of the Pepsi Paloma film’s teaser ahead of its release.

The teaser of the upcoming Pepsi Paloma film has become controversial as it highlighted an accusation against Eat Bulaga host Vic Sotto. Also popularly called bossing, the actor-host was implicated in the issue decades ago together with Joey de Leon and Richie D’Horsie but the issue has died until recently when a film was made.

The teaser went viral and left countless people wondering about the reaction of the Eat Bulaga host on the teaser. Together with his wife, Pauleen Luna Sotto, Vic Sotto came at the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) on January 9 to file a case against Darryl Yap, the director of the movie.

According to bossing Vic, his decision is nothing personal but it is his reaction to the teaser and he is against the spread of false information. Vic Sotto is suing Darryl Yap for P35 million in damages as he filed a cyberlibel case.

The director of the upcoming Pepsi Paloma movie also spoke his side on the issue. He claimed that his materials are based on documentaries that were published and publicized. He believes that he did not fall short with regards to his project and it must be watched first.

Darryl also plans to hold a press conference over the case filed by Vic against him. The public has divided opinions regarding the issue.

Recently, the lawyer of Darryl Yap spoke and claimed that the filmmaker has allegedly sent Vic Sotto a copy of the script for the Pepsi Paloma movie teaser ahead of its release. Based on a report on GMA News, Atty. Raymond Fortun said they sent a copy to Sotto so he can make comments about it but the Eat Bulaga host allegedly did not give any remark.

“The purpose was really for them to give comments dun sa script, so wala naman po. Ilang beses po na nag-follow-up si Direk Darryl na tungkol dun until finally na shoot na lahat ng mga scenes, so hindi na namin kasalanan ‘yun,” Atty. Fortun said.

Based on the report, the lawyer of Yap also said they will answer to the order of the Muntinlupa court to submit a verified return on the writ for the petition for writ of habeas data that Sotto filed against the director.

Amid the issue, the camp of Darryl Yap claimed that there is still no stop order regarding the Pepsi Paloma film teaser.
