Class & Gov’t Work Suspensions Declared on January 13, 2025 for INC National Rally, Palace Says
WALANG PASOK – Malacañang Palace has announced a suspension of classes and government work on Monday (January 13, 2025).
The government has announced a suspension of classes and government work in Manila and Pasay. The announcement comes in preparation for the expected large gathering at the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) National Rally for Peace, which will be held at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.
The suspension applies to both public and private schools across all levels. However, essential services, such as health, disaster response, and other critical government functions, will continue to operate.
For private companies, the decision to suspend work has been left to the discretion of their management.
Organizers of the INC event expect over a million participants from Metro Manila, CALABARZON, and Central Luzon to join the rally, prompting officials to implement measures to minimize the impact of the gathering.
Expecting heavy traffic, particularly around major roads leading to the Quirino Grandstand, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has also assigned nearby roads as temporary parking zones to accommodate the attendees.
The INC rally aims to promote peace and unity while expressing support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s opposition to the ongoing impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte.
With three cases currently filed, the INC and the President have emphasized that these proceedings would only waste legislative time and fail to provide tangible benefits to Filipinos.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, the MMDA is deploying around 1,300 personnel for the day of the event. Despite efforts to manage congestion, authorities have advised the public to plan accordingly, given the possible spillover of traffic from Manila into neighboring areas, including Pasay.
Residents and commuters are urged to stay updated on traffic advisories and make arrangements ahead of time to avoid inconvenience on January 13.
