Darryl Yap is taking a step in his legal battle
Director Darryl Yap, the filmmaker behind the controversial Pepsi Paloma movie, thanked his legal counsel following the case filed against him by veteran comedian Vic Sotto.
Bossing Vic took legal action against Direk Darryl a few days after the Pepsi Paloma movie teaser. It was because his name was mentioned in the teaser as he was accused of “r@ping” Pepsi.
The legal counsel of the Eat Bulaga host said that his family was greatly affected by this. Atty. Buko dela Cruz shared that Bossing’s Vic daughter Tali was bullied in school after the teaser was released while his wife Pauleen Luna received threats.
Answering the case filed against him, Direk Darryl Yap said that it is anyone’s prerogative to file a complaint.
When asked by an entertainment reporter about his legal counsel, the controversial director did reveal who it was. He just said that he would hold a press conference for this.
On the afternoon of January 10, Direk Darryl shared a photo with popular lawyer Atty. Raymond Fortun. “Thank you Fortuns,” he wrote in the caption of his post. The director did not share any details about that photo.
Meanwhile, Direk Darryl has been sharing posts and write-ups about this issue. One of the recent posts he shared was about the meanings of legal terms such as “Writ of Habeas Corpus,” “Writ of Amparo,” and “Writ of Habeas Data.”
This was connected to a news report claiming that the court issued a “Writ of Habeas Data” against Darryl which meant that he was no longer allowed to show materials about his movie. However, this was not the case.
“‘To submit a verified return.’ Ibig sabihin po iniuutos ng korte na sagutin ang reklamo at magsumite ng mga dokumentong may kinalaman sa reklamo,” the post from Prok Noy Channel FB page stated.
