SWS Conducts Survey on VP Sara Duterte’s Impeachment amid Complaints against her
SARA DUTERTE’S IMPEACHMENT – The Social Weather Station (SWS) survey found that 41% of Filipinos are supportive of the impeachment of the Vice President.
The 2024 saw three (3) impeachment complaints filed against Vice Pres. Duterte. The filing of the complaints happened amid questions on the spending of the Confidential Funds of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) as well as during the term of Duterte as the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd).
The first impeachment complaint was endorsed by Akbayan Party-list Rep. Perci Cendaña. The second impeachment complaint was endorsed by the Makabayan bloc lawmakers. The third impeachment complaint against Duterte was filed by priests, members of the religious group, and lawyers.
VP Sara Duterte’s impeachment complaints have cited the budget use of the offices she handled. Previously, the Vice President broke her silence on the challenge towards her position now.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte cited what she believes is the positive side on the impeachment complaints being filed against her. According to the Vice President, the impeachment complaints are venues where she can address the accusations against her.
Duterte acknowledged that the staff members of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) may not share the same sentiment with her as to her view on the impeachment complaints filed against her. It may be an inconvenience on the part of the staff members.
Meanwhile, as for the Vice President, it is better that the investigation is targeted on her and her staff members in the OVP as well as her former staff members in DepEd will be spared.
Amid Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s impeachment complaints, the Social Weather Station (SWS) conducted a survey. Based on a report on GMA News, the SWS conducted a survey between December 12 and December 18, 2024.
The SWS survey found that 41% Filipinos are supportive of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s impeachment complaints. This is equivalent to 4 in every 10 Filipinos. Half or 50% of those who are in favor of the removal of the Vice President from office was recorded in Balance Luzon, 45% in the National Capital Region (NCR), and 40% in Visayas.
Based on the report, 35% of Filipinos are against the impeachment of the Vice President. On the survey, 19% are undecided on their stand regarding the removal of Vice Pres. Duterte from office.
Previously, amid the complaints, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed her confident that she did not break any law.
