Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Issues Statement on Feast of Jesus Nazareno 2025
SARA DUTERTE – On the Feast of Jesus Nazareno, the Vice President called for kindness among the people as well as humility and mercy.
One of the religious events that gather countless Catholic devotees every year is the “Traslacion”. It is the culmination of the 10-day Feast of Jesus Nazareno. It started last December 31, 2024 and is set to end today.
The “Traslacion” is mainly characterized by the procession of the image of Jesus Nazareno from the Quirino Grandstand to the Quiapo Church. The image dates back to 400 years ago and many Filipinos see to it that they join the procession every year.
On the Feast of Jesus Nazarene, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has released a statement. According to the Vice President, the devotion of the people to the Black Nazarene is evident of their great trust in the miracles of God. She also stressed that God’s miracles have pave the way for the people to have “strength, courage, and the inspiration to be resilient”.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also expressed that the faith of the Filipinos on the Black Nazarene shows that we will never face the challenges that come our life alone. She encouraged the Catholics to pray for the nation.
“Because God is constantly guiding us, walking with us, and carrying the cross for us on the way to salvation,” the Vice President said.
Vice Pres. Duterte also called on the Filipinos to pray most especially for those who are in need, sick, and dying. The Vice President also encouraged the Filipinos to show humility even to their persecutors.
“We are also called to show humility, kindness, and mercy to everyone in need, even to those who persecute us,” Duterte said.
The Vice President further called on the Filipinos to pray for healing, wisdom, and guidance as we renew our faith. The Traslacion officially started at 04:01 today in Quiapo. This Traslacion 2025, a devotee walked 7 hours barefoot to show his devotion.
