Update on Rufa Mae Quinto Following Surrender to NBI

RUFA MAE QUINTO – The actress-entrepreneur was allowed to go home after posting a bail of P1.7 million on the Dermacare issue.

Countless people were shocked on Thursday when Rufa Mae arrived in the Philippines and surrendered to the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation). There was a pending arrest order against the actress-entrepreneur over her involvment with Dermacare.

Dermacare is a skincare company that was found to be in illegal operations. An investor of the skincare company sued the people related to it including not only Rufa Mae but as well as Neri Naig-Miranda.

Neri was arrested in a convention center of a shopping mall. The wife of Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda even spent several days in detention. During her detention, news reports that an arrest warrant is also set to be issued against Rufa Mae Quinto crossed the surface.

Following the issuance of a warrant of arrest against Rufa Mae, her lawyer stressed that the actress is just a brand ambassador or an endorser of the skincare brand. The lawyer also said that her client will surrender to the authorities and post bail.

On Thursday, Rufa Mae Quinto arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 aboard a Philippine Airlines flight. She was with her family from San Francisco, United States.

The lawyer of the actress coordinated with the NBI for her surrender. She went through a medico legal examination before proceeding to a court in Pasay. Her camp intended to post bail but the processing was not finished during the day so Rufa Mae had to spend the night at the NBI.

Meanwhile, recently, the Pasay Regional Trial Court Branch 111 allowed Rufa Mae Quinto to go home after she posted a bail. Based on a report on GMA News, the actress-entrepreneur posted a P1.7 million bail for the 14 counts of alleged violation of the Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code, or P126,000 per count.

“Go, go, go home na ako,” Rufa Mae said.

The actress-entrepreneur also made a “not guilty” plea regarding the accusations against her. Rufa Mae even claimed that she is also a victim of Dermacare.
