Best Actor at the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Dennis Trillo decided to donate his winnings to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).
Kapuso actor Dennis Trillo is the Best Actor at the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). Previously, the MMFF 2024 Gabi Ng Parangal has been held and he was the one to bag one of the top acting awards.
Along with the trophy, he also received a monetary winning. The title came with a Php 100,000 cash prize, this is in addition to the multiple awards their film “Green Bones” received in this year’s film festival which included the top honor of Best Picture.
In the film, Trillo plays the role of a PDL on the verge of release but the prison guard, played by Ruru Madrid is determined to keep him locked inside the prison.
His performance in the film earned him the award and with the cash prize, he decided to donate it to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL). The message of the film was about the kindness and goodness of a person.
He said regarding his decision, “Kung tayo ay may kakayahang makatulong, piliin natin na tumulong kaya naman wala ng pagdadalawang isip pa.”
This decision is agreed upon by him and his wife Jennylyn Mercado. so they can fulfill their small wishes through their Tree of Hope. It is also their way to give back to them as the film’s story was inspired by their stories.
They hope that this amount can “make them happy and give them hope that indeed, simple wishes can come true if goodness is in our hearts.”
To date, this is his third acting award at the annual film festival.
