Kim Atienza had this view when it came to the May-December love affair
Kapuso host Kim Atienza shared his thoughts on the breakup between Comedy Concert Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas and her estranged husband Gerald Sibayan.
Ai-Ai and Gerald’s breakup is among the celebrity breakups that happened this 2024. In an interview, the comedienne revealed that Gerald sent a message to her while she was in the Philippines and he was in the US.
Gerald wanted to break up with her saying that he no longer loves her. Rumor has it that he already has a girlfriend who allegedly was pregnant.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Pilipino Star Ngayon, Kim Atienza shared his opinion on Ai-Ai delas and Gerald Sibayan’s breakup. The Ticktoclock host stressed that it was not right that the breakup just happened through a text message or chat.
For Kuya Kim, it should be done face to face because there is no emotion and you can’t see the feelings when it is just through text or chat.
“Minsan kapag sinasabi do’n sa text, that’s magnified, 10 , 20, 30 times more dahil hindi mo nakikita ang mukha sa pagsasabi. Kung sasaktan mo ako, saktan mo ako nang magkaharapan tayo at magkaalaman tayo. Kung ite-text mo sa akin, mas masakit ‘yon. At ang feeling mo talagang nababastos ka, mali ‘yon,” he said.
The TV host also pointed out that age matters and it will always matter. He said that it is ideal if the man is older because normally, he is already stable. However, when the woman is older than the man, he has some needs, especially physically, she might not be able to provide.
“So age matters. But what is more important than the age is commitment,” he said. Kuya Kim further explained that a strong commitment is needed between the couple if there is a huge age gap. It will work but “with a certain degree of difficulty because of age.”
For Kim Atienza, it is also a big factor when the couple has a child or children. He said that love between the couple may fade but they will continue to work on their relationship because of their kids. “Because marriage is commitment, marriage is a choice eh. Kapag may anak ka, it’s easier to stay,” he said.
The TV host added if there is no child, the couple may enter into the decision to separate so easily when difficult times come. He said that a lot of marriages stayed intact because of the children and eventually, the couple fell in love with each other again.
