Construction Worker Holds Family Hostage Over Alcohol Money
A construction worker in Taguig City was arrested after holding his family hostage after allegedly being denied money for alcohol.
On Thursday morning (December 21, 2024), a construction worker in Taguig City was arrested after a tense four-hour standoff with authorities. The 28-year-old suspect identified as “Alias Raymond,” held his live-in partner and their four children, including an eight-month-old baby, hostage in Barangay Bagumbayan.
The incident started when an argument erupted after the man’s partner refused to give him money to buy alcohol. As the situation got worse, she claimed he became violent, prompting her to run for help from the Barangay Bagumbayan Security Force (BSF).
The BSF immediately called the Taguig police, who arrived with members of Sub-Station 12 and a SWAT team at the scene.
Negotiations, led by Taguig police chief Colonel Joey Goforth, lasted for four hours. During this time, officers worked carefully to de-escalate the situation and ensure the safety of the victims.
Fortunately, the man eventually surrendered, releasing his family unharmed. None of the victims were injured during the ordeal.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Taguig police. He faces several charges, including illegal detention, direct assault, alarm and scandal, and illegal possession of a bladed weapon.
Authorities commended the quick and coordinated response that led to the successful rescue and highlighted the importance of teamwork and community collaboration in resolving dangerous situations like this.
