Alice Guo Petition To Bail Denied, Junked By Pasig RTC

The bail petition of Alice Guo and others was denied.

Pasig court junks the bail petition of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, and others in her qualified trafficking case.

Former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo and her co-accused in human trafficking charges filed a petition to post bail. On Friday, December 20, the verdict was released and the petition was denied.

The Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 167 denied the petitions of Guo, Rita Sapnu Yturralde, Rowena Gonzales Evangelista, Thelma Barrogo Laranan, Merlie Joy Manalo Castro, and Rachelle Joan Malonzo Carreon because of the strong evidence against them.

However, the petitions of Maybelline Requiro Millo and Jaimielyn Santos Cruz, their co-accused, were allowed as the evidence against these two was weak.

Guo is detained at the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory. She and the other accused are charged with violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended by the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012 and the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022.

This case is associated with the raid on a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Guo’s town in June. In the said raid, over 800 Filipinos and foreigners were rescued.

Guo’s citizenship was also in question but she asserted many times that she is a Filipino despite the documents presented.

Apart from these, she is also facing a graft case before a Valenzuela court and a material misrepresentation case before a Tarlac court. A quo warranto petition was also filed against the embattled former mayor and a petition to cancel her birth certificate was also filed before a Tarlac court.

She also has a standing tax evasion complaint, 87 counts for money laundering, and a perjury and falsification complaint before the DOJ. She denied the numerous charges against her.
