Jodi Sta Maria had a second chance in showbiz
Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta Maria admitted that it was not easy to return to showbiz after she chose love over her career.
Jodi is one of the “OG” Star Magic talents. Her acting career bloomed when she joined the cast of the youth-oriented weekly series Tabing Ilog. However, back then, Jodi was only given supporting roles.
When she and her former husband Pampi Lacson got married and started their own family, Jodi decided to be inactive in showbiz. However, their relationship did not last for so long. They eventually separated but remained friends and had a good co-parenting setup for their son Thirdy.
When Jodi Sta Maria returned to showbiz, she was given a chance to be the lead star of the morning series Be Careful With My Heart opposite Richard Yap.
Previously, Jodi shared that she was not the first choice to play the lead female character in the said series. That opportunity skyrocketed her acting career and from that, she started receiving lead role offers not just in series but also in movies.
Based on the article in Bandera, Jodi admitted that when she had her showbiz comeback, it felt like she was starting again from the beginning. She shared that when she entered showbiz, she just wanted to show her passion for her craft and did not mind the popularity game.
“Mahilig ako sumali sa mga contest sa school kasi feeling ko mayroon akong sarili kong world and feeling ko lahat posible doon sa world na meron ako kapag nagpe-perform ako,” the actress shared.
When she came back after having a child, she had a hosting job that she left and she tried to return to it. However, she was told that it does not how it works.
“Hindi pwedeng aalis ka, iiwanan mo isang bagay, eh pagbalik mo, i-expect mo na nandun pa rin. Hindi ganun sa showbiz. ‘Pag umalis ka there will always be somebody who will take your place and ganu’n na nga po ‘yung nangyari,” Jodi shared.
She said that it took her six years to say that she had completely returned fully. She re-established her career as she started from scratch. Jodi Sta Maria shared that she told herself to just enjoy and she had no problem playing character roles or support roles because she loves her job and acting is her passion.
