Young Thai Singer Chayada Prao-hom Passes Away Suffering Complications From Neck-Twisting Massages
CHAYADA PRAO-HOM – The Young Thai Singer has lost her life after getting neck-twisting massages.
The untimely death of the 20-year-old Thai folk singer Chayada Prao-hom due to blood infection and brain swelling has left fans heartbroken and raised concerns about the dangers of unsafe massage practices.
It all started on October 5, 2024, when Chayada visited a local massage parlor for help with some back pain after a performance. After the session, though, she noticed numbness in her arm and had trouble moving.
“After the massage, she started to feel numb [in] half of her body and could not use her left arm. Later she could not move her whole body,” the unnamed boyfriend said.
Hoping to feel better, she went back for two more massages, but things only got worse. By the third time, she was left in intense pain, with swelling and bruises that made it hard for her to move.
“My mom is a masseuse and I studied Thai massage since I was a kid. I love massage so much and so I don’t have any suspicion just yet. I thought this (the full body ache) was simply an effect from me getting the massage again,” Chayada said.
Prao-hom developed brain swelling and a severe blood infection, and despite all the efforts to save her, she passed away in November. It’s believed that the neck-twisting techniques used during the massages caused serious damage to the blood vessels in her neck, leading to these devastating complications.
The incident raises concern about the risks of certain massage techniques, especially when performed by untrained practitioners. Experts warn that aggressive neck manipulations can lead to strokes, paralysis, or worse, and it’s even riskier when done repeatedly.
Thai authorities are now investigating the massage parlor involved to see if they followed proper safety procedures. Meanwhile, this tragedy has sparked a call for stricter regulations and better training for massage therapists to prevent similar incidents in the future.
