Judy Ann Santos is among the actresses being anticipated to get the MMFF Best Actress trophy
Drama superstar Judy Ann Santos had this answer when asked about the possibility of getting the Best Actress award at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024.
Judy Ann, fondly called Juday in showbiz, has been in the entertainment industry since she was a young girl. She is known for acing drama scenes effortlessly. From being a child star, she became one of the most respected actresses in the Philippines.
For the 50th anniversary of the Metro Manila Film Festival, Juday explored the horror genre which would showcase her other side as an actress.
Previously, Judy Ann Santos revealed that the horror movie Feng Shiu was first offered to her. This starred Queen of all Media Kris Aquino. It was because Juday’s late manager Alfie Lorenzo did not let her do this horror film.
Finally, Juday and direk Chito Rono worked together on a horror movie for the MMFF 2024 and it was Espantaho. Based on the article in Abante, the prominent celebrity is among the strong contenders for the Best Actress trophy.
When asked about the possibility of getting the award, Juday had an honest answer. “Aba, parang lahat po ata ng mga nominado gugustuhin naman, hindi ba? Pero siguro napaka-cliché kung sabihin kong okay na kung… okay na maging box-office na lang kami. Napakaplastik naman din kung sasabihin kong hindi ko nais magkaroon ng award, hindi ba?” she said.
However, the actress said that this will still depend on the judges on who is deserving of the award and she will trust their decision.
Juday is proud of their movie and if they receive awards during the Gabi ng Parangal, then, it would be a bonus for them. “‘Yung award, napaka ano na ‘yon… buong-buo na siguro ‘yung 2024 kung nagkataon,” Judy Ann Santos added.
Meanwhile, the actress was made to choose between becoming a blockbuster hit or receiving an acting award for this movie, she said that she wants their movie to be a blockbuster hit.
