Former My Chemical Romance Drummer Bob Bryar Dies at 44

Bob Bryar, known for his time as the drummer of My Chemical Romance, has passed away at the age of 44.

On November 26, 2024 (Tuesday), Bryar’s body was found at his home in Tennessee, weeks after he was last seen alive on November 4. Authorities don’t suspect anything suspicious since all his belongings, like his music gear, were untouched.

Animal Control also removed two dogs from his house, and the medical examiner is still figuring out the exact cause of his death.

Bryar joined My Chemical Romance in 2004 during a major turning point for the band. He replaced their original drummer and became a huge part of their rise to fame.

He played on their most memorable albums, including Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, The Black Parade, and Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Even though he left the band in 2010, his impact on their music stuck with fans.

After stepping away from music entirely in 2014, Bryar took on a new path, focusing on real estate and putting a lot of energy into helping rescue animals. He even auctioned off some of his band memorabilia to support animal sanctuaries, showing how much he cared for the cause.

Behind the scenes, Bryar dealt with mental health struggles, something he spoke about openly. Despite those challenges, he continued to honor the people and things that inspired him, like Neil Peart, the legendary drummer from Rush.

While Bryar wasn’t part of My Chemical Romance’s recent reunion tours, fans still remember him for the incredible drumming he brought to the band’s peak years.
