Coco Martin shared this past incident
Kapamilya actor Coco Martin admitted that he once “cursed” his home network ABS-CBN because of this.
Coco has been reigning the primetime slot of the Kapamilya network for many years already. His past TV series FPJ’s Ang Probisyano became the longest-running teleserye in the history of Philipine showbiz.
When this was finished, Coco immediately had a new series. Currently, his series Batang Quiapo is one of the top rating teleseryes in the Philippines.
However, years back then, Coco Martin had a negative feeling toward to his now-home network. In a recent interview on Ogie Diaz’s YouTube channel, based on the article in Inquirer, the actor once “cursed” ABS-CBN.
It is known to many people that Coco started his acting career in indie films with very sultry themes. He revealed that before making it to mainstream, he received almost all criticisms and at first, the mainstream network rejected him because of his past projects.
“Dalawang beses akong nireject ng ABS-CBN kasi nga ang tingin sa akin b0ld star,” Coco shared. It saddened him as people tend to be judgmental when it comes to how an actor would be stereotyped because of how one started in showbiz.
Coco also shared that his handler received an offer for him to play a role to be in a third triangle with Shaina Magdayao and Rayver Cruz.
He accepted the offer but eventually, the production team took back the offer after knowing about his projects. Then, another offer came and the role was the gay friend of Judy Ann Santos in a certain project. Once again, Coco accepted the offer but then, he was rejected.
He shared what the casting agent said to his handler back then, “S=xy actor pala si Coco Martin, e alam mo naman ang ABS-CBN may image e.’”
The admitted that this was really hurt by this and asked why these people would treat him like that.
“Sinumpa ko talaga noon ang ABS, honestly. Sinumpa ko talaga kasi ang sakit e. Ang baba ng tingin sa’yo tapos ikaw ang taas ng respeto mo sa trabaho mo,” he said.
After that, Coco Martin received an encouragement form the late veteran actress Jaclyn Jose to give another try and audition for a role in the series Ligaw na Bulaklak and he was able to get in through the help of director Andoy Ranay.
