Typhoon Ofel Update – Areas Under Signal No. 1, 2, 3, and 4

Here’s an update about Typhoon Ofel from PAGASA.

TYPHOON OFEL UPDATE – Based on the latest from PAGASA, these are the areas under the Signal No. 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Ofel (Usagi) strengthened from a typhoon into a super typhoonĀ due to rapid intensification early Thursday morning. This was based on the 8 AM bulletin issued on Thursday by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

During the afternoon, it weakened to a typhoon ‘due to increasing interaction with the landmass of Luzon’Ā but despite this, there are still several areas under Signal No. 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Based on 5 PM post of PAGASA on November 14, these are the following:

Signal No. 1 (Minimal to minor impacts)

Luzon:

  • The rest of Isabela, Quirino, the northern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Kasibu, Ambaguio, Solano, Bayombong, Quezon, Bagabag, Diadi, Villaverde, Dupax del Norte, Bambang), the rest of Mountain Province, the rest of Ifugao, the rest of Abra, the northern portion of Benguet (Mankayan, Kabayan, Kibungan, Bakun, Buguias), Ilocos Sur, the northern portion of La Union (Luna, Sudipen, Bangar, Santol, Balaoan), and the northern portion of Aurora (Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dilasag, Dipaculao)

Signal No. 2 (Minor to moderate impacts)

Luzon:

  • The western and eastern portions of Isabela (Quezon, Quirino, Mallig, San Manuel, Aurora, Cabatuan, City of Cauayan, Benito Soliven, Naguilian, Gamu, Burgos, Reina Mercedes, Luna, Roxas, San Mariano, Palanan, Ilagan City, Divilacan, Dinapigue), the rest of Apayao, Kalinga, the northeastern portion of Abra (Tineg, Lacub, Malibcong, Lagayan, San Juan, Lagangilang, Licuan-Baay, Daguioman), the eastern portion of Mountain Province (Paracelis), and the rest of Ilocos Norte.

Signal No. 3 (Moderate to significant impacts)

Luzon:

  • Batanes, the rest of Cagayan, the northern portion of Isabela (San Pablo, Tumauini, Cabagan, Santa Maria, Santo Tomas, Maconacon, Delfin Albano), the northern portion of Apayao (Flora, Santa Marcela, Luna, Pudtol, Calanasan, Kabugao), and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud, Adams, Dumalneg)

Signal No. 4 (Significant to severe impacts)

Luzon:

  • Babuyan Islands and the northern and eastern portions of mainland Cagayan (Santa Teresita, Ballesteros, Aparri, Camalaniugan, Buguey, Lal-Lo, Allacapan, Gattaran, Baggao, PeƱablanca, Gonzaga, Santa Ana, Abulug, Pamplona, Sanchez-Mira)

According to the forecast, Ofel will continue to move to cross the northeastern portion of mainland Luzon and will either pass close or make landfall in the vicinity of Babuyan Islands tonight.

Typhoon Ofel is the 5th major storm to hit the Philippines in 3 weeks which prompted larger-scale evacuations. Another storm is brewing in the Pacific and may hit the northern Philippines this weekend. It will be called “Pepito”.
