BINI Maloi Ricalde Unveils Her Aspiration to Pursue Acting
BINI MALOI – Pinoy popstar Maloi Ricalde has revealed her surprising dream of becoming an actor, showcasing her desire to expand her talents beyond music.
In a recent interview, Maloi Ricalde from BINI opened up about her dreams and feelings about her performing career. When asked if she has aspirations to become an actor, she replied enthusiastically, “Yes!”
Based on a report from ABS-CBN, Maloi said acting has always been a significant part of her life, and she shared, “I’ve always wanted to act po, as in! Like ‘pag nanonood ako ng mga teleserye or K-drama, I feel like gusto ko rin gawin yun! Parang kaya ko ring gawin yun! I’m really thankful talaga to Maki dahil kinast niya ako sa music video niya (‘Dilaw’)” in which she played a student who comforts a bullied peer.
Maloi humorously acknowledged her tendency to overact, saying, “Lagi akong OA (over-acting),” but she welcomed the chance to display a more nuanced side of her acting in the video, affirming, “I tried my best.” Despite her hectic schedule with BINI, she is eager to showcase her talents beyond music and delve deeper into acting.
Her acting role models include Alessandra de Rossi, Bela Padilla, and JC Santos, but her ultimate inspiration is the iconic Maricel Soriano. She expressed her admiration by saying, “Gusto kong masampal ni Miss Maricel. Okay lang, it’s an honor na masampal ni Miss Maricel.”
At just 22, Maloi has many aspirations, including improving her songwriting abilities and pursuing studies in Fine Arts or Multimedia Arts. She stated, “I feel that if I’m not on that path, I’m not being true to myself.” However, her education may need to be postponed due to BINI’s full schedule, which extends until 2025.
Maloi also shared her emotional side, revealing her inherited sensitivity from her mother “sobrang baba ng luha ko,” she admitted, noting how deeply she appreciates the love and support from her fans. “I feel so loved. Parang hindi ako makapaniwala na nakakatanggap ako ng ganitong love. I feel so, forever grateful. ‘Yun talaga ang number one – the attitude of gratitude.”
Despite the overwhelming aspects of fame, such as losing her privacy, Maloi stays grounded. “I can’t deny na sobrang overwhelming niya po. ‘Yun ‘yung time talaga na mag-stand ka para sa sarili mo. You have to speak up. You have to think about ‘yung sarili mo, ‘yung safety, ‘yung safety ng mga tao. If you care about yourself, you care about other people.”
Her humility is rooted in her upbringing. “At eto yung Maloi dati. Actually hindi ako si Maloi sa bahay, si Lucky ako. Kaya tuwing tinatawag ako ng parents ko, tinatawag nila akong Lucky. So this is where I started. So ‘yun po ang reminder sa akin, everytime.”
“Everyday nag-uusap kami ng parents. As much as I want to, gusto ko talagang nagvi-videocall kami. So everyday, I am reminded.”
