Vice Ganda has been asked about politics many times
Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda quipped about joining politics and he jokingly said that he wants to run for president.
Vice shared in a past interview that there had been some instances when he was offered to run for a government position. However, he said that not because he will win, he will run. He does not want to use his popularity for the sake of gaining votes.
This statement from Vice was recalled by netizens after it was reported that his partner Ion Perez filed his certificate for candidacy for councilor of Concepcion, Tarlac. However, rumor has it that Ion withdrew his candidacy.
In a recent episode of Showbiz Update, the YouTube showbiz talk show of talent manager-vlogger Ogie Diaz, he shared what Vice Ganda said when asked about politics.
The Unkabogable Star said that if ever he would enter politics, he would not plan this. He just wants to enter abruptly as he feels that this should be a calling. “Parang sabi nga nila, calling. Kapag naramdaman mo, naramdaman mo. Ni hindi ko nga siya paplanuhin,” the comedian-host said.
When people would ask if he has political plans, he would just quip, “Sabi ko, ‘ayaw ko niyan ang baba (a certain position). Gusto ko presidente agad!’”
He also said in jest that when the time comes that he will become a political aspirant, he will not use his resources for the campaign because he worked hard in showbiz to earn what he has now and he will not spend this for politics.
“Magpa-file ako ng candidacy tapos gagawa akong vlog. ‘Tatakbo po ako ito po ‘yung mga plataporma ko. Kung bet n’yo kong iboto, go. Kung hindi, okay lang din.’ Pero joke lang ‘yun,” Vice said.
In a serious tone, Vice Ganda said that he has not thought of entering politics for now but he is not closing his door totally because he does not want to eat his words eventually when this happens.
