Newborn Baby Discovered Outside Restroom of Bus Terminal in Quezon City
TRAGIC INCIDENT – A newborn baby was discovered dead outside the restroom of a bus terminal in Cubao, Quezon City.
The baby, who was still connected to the umbilical cord and accompanied by the placenta, was found lying beside a water drum.
A porter and a fruit vendor made the heartbreaking discovery. They noticed the baby was already lifeless, indicating that the child had been abandoned shortly after birth. The company liaison officer at the bus terminal, Johnny Manfoste, confirmed that the baby appeared to be recently born and was left behind.
Authorities reviewed the CCTV footage from the terminal, which showed a man and a woman leaving the restroom area. In the video, the woman was seen holding the baby, wrapped in a white T-shirt.
Captain Marciano Agua Jr. from Barangay E. Rodriguez shared that the couple, who were identified as a boyfriend and girlfriend, were on their way home to Gapan when they left the newborn behind.
The investigation revealed a detail that linked the man to the T-shirt used to wrap the baby. The logo on the T-shirt matched the one he wore on his head. The CCTV also captured the bus they boarded from Gapan, Nueva Ecija.
“Nakita ko ‘yung logo ng T-shirt, tumutugma roon sa pinampandong ng lalaki sa ulo niya. ‘Yung T-shirt na ginamit na pambalot ang ginamit pampandong sa ulo ng lalaki,” said Manfoste.
Following this discovery, Manfoste reached out to the bus driver, who confirmed that the couple was still on the bus. Soon after, the driver informed him that they had arrived at the police station in Penaranda.
“Tumawag po ako ngayon sa driver-konduktor namin. Sabi ng driver sa akin nang na-contact namin, ‘Sir, positive. Nandito pa, Nakasakay pa sa bus.’ So ang nangyari po, tumawag po sa akin ‘yung driver, nandoon na po sa police station sa Penaranda ‘yung dalawa,” he added.
The Quezon City police are now coordinating with Nueva Ecija authorities to continue the investigation.
