Bicol RDRRMC Says They Could No Longer Manage Rescue Efforts

BICOL – The Bicol Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) issued an urgent appeal, stating they were reportedly overwhelmed and unable to manage the ongoing rescue operations effectively.

According to PAGASA, the center of Typhoon Kristine was last spotted 345 kilometers east-northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte, moving northwest at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour. Kristine has sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour near its center, with gusts reaching up to 90 kilometers per hour.

The Bicol RDRRMC has issued an appeal after reportedly being unable to handle all the rescue requests from those asking for help.

Due to Typhoon Kristine, rising floodwaters have been observed, especially in the Bicol Region. Continuous updates are being shared, with reports of stranded passengers on buses who have been caught in the flood.

In just a few hours of Typhoon Kristine’s onslaught, the region is still experiencing flooding. At midnight on October 22, the Bicol RDRRMC issued a statement regarding the ongoing flooding in their area due to Typhoon Kristine’s impact.

The region has been experiencing severe flooding, with reports that floodwaters have reached the roofs of some homes.

In their statement, rescuers have reportedly been overwhelmed and unable to respond to all the calls for help from residents, particularly in Camarines Sur, Albay, and Naga City. They ask for deep understanding of the situation.
