Pastor Apollo Quiboloy Revokes CONA under WPP
APOLLO QUIBOLOY – The Pastor revoked his Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) and will run as an independent candidate for senator in the 2025 Midterm Elections.
One of the senatorial candidates in the 2025 Midterm Elections is Pastor Quiboloy. Undeniably, his bid for senator has shocked countless people as he is currently under detention for the cases filed against him.
Pastor Quiboloy filed his candidacy for senator through his lawyer. His candidacy was filed under the Workers’ and Peasants’ Party or the WPP but senatorial aspirant Sonny Matula denied that WPP issued the Pastor a Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance or CONA.
Matula said that the other authorized signatories of WPP also denied signing the CONA of the founder and leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC). According to his lawyer, the Pastor will be the senator for the poor and the workers.
Senatorial aspirant Sonny Matula sought for the disqualification of Pastor Quiboloy from the senatorial race. He filed a petition before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the cancellation of his CONA.
The senatorial bid of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy gained different reactions from the people. He is currently detained in the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Facility after he was arrested last month.
Recently, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy revoked his Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) from WPP and declared to run as an independent candidate. Based on a report on GMA News, the Pastor’s counsel, Mark Tolentino, revoked the CONA of the KOJC Founder in behalf of him.
“Given the ongoing intra-party dispute, I am revoking my acceptance as a nominee of WPP. I am therefore running as an independent candidate for senator in the 2025 NLE,” Quiboloy’s letter reads.
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is one of the valid candidates for senator in the 2025 Midterm Elections. It earned the reactions of many people. Undeniably, several Filipinos are disappointed over the Pastor taking the senatorial bid amid the cases against him.
