Cops Arrest 2 Men for Using Fake Money to Buy Motorcycle
FAKE MONEY – Two men were arrested in Pasay City after allegedly purchasing a motorcycle using counterfeit money.
The police authorities arrested two individuals for buying a motorcycle using fake money. According to the police, the victim met with the suspects and agreed to sell his motorcycle for P20,000.
After receiving the payment, the victim tried to use the cash at a convenience store. However, the cashier noticed something suspicious about the bills. The victim also realized that some of the P1,000 bills had identical serial numbers, raising further suspicion.
The victim then went to the bank to have the money checked, and it was confirmed that the bills were fake. He immediately reported the incident to the police, leading to an investigation.
Authorities were able to trace the suspects to their homes in Tanza, Cavite, based on the information they had provided to the victim earlier. The suspects claimed that they were unaware the money was counterfeit.
They explained that they had received the fake bills from a woman who bought jewelry from them, and they even provided proof of the transaction.
The suspects insisted that they had no intention of scamming the victim, pointing out that they wouldn’t have given him their real address if they had any ill intentions. The investigation is still ongoing.
The police authorities reminded the public to carefully inspect any money they receive, especially in markets or small stores. They also encouraged people to report suspicious bills to the nearest police station.
Authorities are also looking into the possibility of fake money circulating again, particularly with the Christmas season approaching.
