Former Sen. Leila de Lima Reacts To Sen. Bato dela Rosa’s Plan
DE LIMA – The former Senator reacted to the plan of Sen. Bato dela Rosa to launch a probe on the Duterte drug war.
The drug war of the Duterte administration is surrounded by several issues and allegations. Currently, there are several investigations on the staunch campaign of the previous admin including the probe in the House of Representatives.
Previously, the House of Representatives invited former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Sen. Bato dela Rosa into a hearing over the drug war. Dela Rosa was the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the police and the government’s strong collaboration in fighting drugs.
However, there are several deaths linked to the drug war of the Duterte administration. Several entities expressed a pursuit to investigate the implementation of the campaign.
Recently, Sen. Bato dela Rosa expressed his plan to launch a probe on the Duterte drug war and invite the former President. The Senator who is an ally of the Dutertes is confident that the former Chief Executive will attend the Senate hearing.
Dela Rosa claimed that Duterte is more comfortable in the Senate than in the House of Representatives. He also raised the chance on him being the inviter considering their closeness.
However, the statement of Sen. Bato dela Rosa earned different reactions. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, former Sen. Leila de Lima stressed that Dela Rosa is also an accused in the probe that he wants to launch.
“Puwede ba yun na ang isang inaakusahan, isang ini-implicate ay siya rin ang magha-handle ng isang hearing, baka nga mag-preside din? Puwede ba yun akusado ka, ta’s magiging judge ka rin?” De Lima said.
Former Sen. Leila De Lima believes it is not proper most especially if the alleged accused will participate in the questioning. Based on the report, she finds it an amusing matter.
“I don’t think that is proper… Katawa-tawa nga,” the former Senator said.
Recently, self-confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa who testified against De Lima claimed that he was only forced by Sen. Dela Rosa who was the PNP chief then. The former Senator who spent 6 years in detention said she has forgiven the people who testified against her but stressed that it’s a different case on those who instigated to implicate her.
