Willie Revillame Almost Backed Out Submitting His COC

Here’s what happened Willie Revillame almost did not submit his COC.

After years of being urged to run for a senate seat, Willie Revillame finally obliged but this almost did not happen because of this reason.

TV host Willie Revillame has filed a certificate of candidacy for senator in the 2025 midterm elections. For years, the game show host denied doing this as he felt like his capacity was not yet on that level of public service, but this year, he finally did it, and for the midterm polls, he is seeking a senate seat.

On October 8, the last day of the filing, Willie submitted his COC to run for senator. He was in mixed emotions as he did this but one thing that changed his mind about his stand in politics was when he saw the number of his audience hopeful to be helped by him but he was not able to because the budget is limited.

He also saw the “awayan” in Congress between the politicians and it made him realize that if this continues, it’s the people who will be put in a compromised situation. In his words, these politicians forgot to serve the people.

“Ito ‘yong mga taong pinagkakatiwalaan pero nakakalimutan ‘yong mga kawawang kababayan natin,” Willie said.

But before this, he actually wanted to initially back out. More than an hour before the closing hours, he announced inside the private function room of Rizal Park Hotel that he was backing out and would not push through with his plans. According to PEP, he became emotional along with his people who were surprised by his sudden decision.

He explained the reason why and detailed the series of incidents that, for him, signals that he should not do it. However, a phone call from someone he did not disclose yet changed his mind. That phone call seemed to ease him making him do things as planned.

One day before submitting, he made a series of calls to famous personalities to let them know about his plans. He called TV5 Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, Vice President Sara Duterte, Senator Raffy Tulfo, a staff at the Malacañang Palace, and fellow senatoriables Tito Sotto and Erwin Tulfo.
