On a social media page, Jessy Mendiola defended her husband Luis Manzano, who is running for vice governor, from doubters.
Vilma Santos and her sons Luis Manzano and Ryan Recto are running in next year’s midterm polls for different positions. Santos will try to return as governor while her sons Luis and Ryan are running for vice governor and Batangas 6th district representative, respectively.
Luis running for vice governor has quite raised several brows mainly because of his celebrity status. There’s quite a negative reputation for celebrities turning politicians because a lot of them have done this but the public believed only a few have served the purpose of their position.
And for Manzano, who is considerably a first-timer in the field and already aiming quite a high position in a province, many people cast their doubts.
Jessy Mendiola, his wife, has encountered some of them online. On Instagram, one commenter expressed his hope that he has good intentions in running for vice governor as the position is not an easy role.
In response to this, Mendiola asked the commenter to give her husband a chance. He might be new in politics but he had enough guidance and teachings from his parents who are veterans as politicians. She shared that hero husband can do a lot of things and being a celebrity is just one of them.
“I hope people let him prove himself when it comes to public service,” she wrote and added he will give a fair fight. In the end, it is the voter’s decision that will be honored.

In a previous article, Mendiola expressed her support for her husband. This plan was never a part of their plan but they are embracing this fully. She knows her husband and she knows what he is capable of doing. She knows his heart and she knows how kind and generous he always is when it comes to helping people.
She is proud of him as he chose this path and she firmly believes that he is made for this.
