Michael Pacquiao, the son of Legendary Boxer Manny Pacquiao, To Seek Council Seat In General Santos City
MANNY PACQUIAO – The son of Manny Pacquiao, Michael Pacquiao will run for councilor in General Santos City.
Michael Stephen Pacquiao, the second son of boxing legend and former Senator Manny Pacquiao, is entering the political arena. The 22-year-old has been included in the official slate for the People’s Champ Movement (PCM), the political party established by his father, as a candidate for one of the 12 city council seats.
Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao, who is running for a second term in the upcoming elections, confirmed that her nephew Michael will be part of their team. Based on a report from Inquirer, she announced that Michael will officially submit his certificate of candidacy (COC) alongside the rest of the PCM slate on October 5.
Michael, who completed his high school education at Brent International School in 2020 and has since pursued a music career, will replace former Councilor Shandee Llido in the lineup. Llido is returning to her previous role as city administrator. Lorelie, the wife of Manny Pacquiao’s younger brother, Alberto, explained that the replacement addressed a significant concern, as their slate initially had two candidates with the surname Llido.
This change will simplify the voting process, as the only remaining Llido candidate is incumbent Councilor Virginia Llido.

According to the report, former Councilor Franklin Gacal Jr., who is also running for a seat on the city council, praised Michael’s candidacy, stating that he would bring a fresh “youth perspective” to the local legislative body. Gacal previously served as the city administrator and is aiming to return to the council in the upcoming elections.
PCM has formed a coalition with the ruling Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), and their joint slate includes outgoing Councilor Jose Orlando Acharon, who will be running for vice mayor alongside Lorelie. Meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao is planning a political comeback by running for the Senate in the May 2025 national and local midterm elections under a multiparty alliance led by PFP, chaired by President Marcos.
