Viral Pares Vendor Diwata Decides to Enter World of Politics

DIWATA – The viral Pares vendor makes rounds online after submitting his Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance for Vendors Party-list.

Hailing from Samar, Deo Balbuena, popularly known as “Diwata” moved to Manila in search of a better life. He worked as a beautician, vendor, and even a construction worker to support himself.

Balbuena’s journey to popularity began in 2016 when a viral video captured him walking confidently into a police station after reporting an incident involving illegal drug use. Despite being injured during the confrontation, his lively personality earned him online recognition.

In 2019, Diwata became more popular when he participated in the “Miss Q and A InterTALAKtic Edition” on It’s Showtime, winning the “Beks in ChukChak Award.” His charisma and humor resonated with many, making him a beloved figure on social media.

Beyond his internet fame, Deo is known for his thriving food business, “Diwata Pares Overload,” which offers budget-friendly meals like unli-rice, unli-soup, and fried chicken for only P100. This 24-hour food stall became a hit among customers, who flock to experience the delicious meals and affordable prices.

With his success in business and a growing online following, Diwata is now venturing into politics.

Recently, the well-known internet personality and food stall vendor has decided to step into the world of politics. He submitted his certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) as the fourth nominee for the Vendors Party-list.

The Vendors Party-list advocates for the rights and welfare of street vendors, aiming to provide them better opportunities and representation in the government.

By running for a seat in Congress, he hopes to extend his efforts to support vendors like him, advocating for their rights and ensuring they have a voice in the government.
