John Amores Involved In Shooting Incident, Hunted By The Police

PBA player John Amores is being hunted by the authorities due to this.

NorthPort guard John Amores was identified as a suspect in a shooting incident in Laguna after firing a gun at this man.

Lumban Municipal Police Station reported that NorthPort guard John Amores fired a gun at a certain Lee Cacalda, a seaman. This incident happened on Wednesday, September 25, after a heated exchange that occurred between them during a basketball game in Barangay Salac in Lumban.

Allegedly, Amores uttered words  “dun tayo magsuntukan”. Cacalda was then followed by Amores.

According to the authorities, Amores dared Cacalda to a fistfight but when they reached an area near Barangay Maytalang Uno, the PBA player pulled out a gun and shot at the victim. The firearm that was used remained unidentified.

Fortunately, Cacalda sustained no injuries, however, Amores escaped and is still at large. A manhunt was set out for the suspect. After firing, he got off in a motorcycle going to the general direction of Pagsanjan, Laguna.

The shooting incident happened two years after Amores ran amok and punched four St. Benilde Blazers players during an NCAA game. He was expelled from the Jose Rizal University (JRU) basketball team and was handed an indefinite ban by the NCAA after he went on a rampage.

Last year, he took the path to becoming a professional player and Amores joined PBA Season 48 Rookie Draft. Amores was Batang Pier’s 51st overall pick. As of this writing, NorthPort head coach Bonnie Tan has been made aware of the incident but the team’s management refused to make any comment or release a statement as the incident remains under investigation.
