Here’s the response of Sara Duterte to calls for her to resign.
Vice President Sara Duterte was urged to resign and this is her reaction to the resignation calls from lawmakers.
There’s a certain tension regarding the budget for 2025 of the Office of the Vice President. During the House plenary hearing on Tuesday, Vice President Sara Duterte and officials of the OVP were absent which to some shows her disinterest in defending her office’s budget.
Based on a previous article, Duterte snubbed the House investigation regarding the DepEd fund.
Assistant House Majority Leader and Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Raul Angelo Bongalon said she should resign if this is the case. Deputy Speaker David Suarez revealed that a lot of members of the House of Representatives were frustrated with Duterte because of this.
Manila Rep. Rolando Valeriano also appealed to the VP to attend the hearing for the Filipino people.
Recently, she addressed the resignation calls and according to her, she stays and not going anywhere. She rejects the calls as there are 32 million people who voted for her she needs to give more importance to than addressing the “Young Guns”.
“Hindi ako sasagot sa ‘Young Guns’ dahil kailangan ko sumagot sa 32 million na bumoto sa akin. Hindi sa 1-2 tao. Hindi ako aalis dito dahil nilagay ako ng mga tao dito believing I will work for the country,” Duterte said.
She stressed that she was not stepping down for the sake of the people who believed in her and that she could do the work for the country. “Young Guns” are House members under 40 years old.

She would, however, attend the Senate’s budget deliberations.
Earlier, the House Appropriations Committee reduced the OVP’s proposed Php 2-billion 2025 to about P700 million.
To recall, the House of Representatives scheduled the OVP’s 2025 budget plenary deliberations was skipped by the vice president. She is no longer expecting the proposed budget to remain the same but they can accordingly just work around the budget that will be given to them. They will continue to work regardless of the budget.
