Alice Guo Allegedly ‘Shocked’ Upon Seeing Her Cell in Pasig City Jail
ALICE GUO – Dismissed mayor Alice Guo was allegedly ‘shocked’ after seeing her cell in Pasig City Jail.
Indonesian authorities apprehended former Mayor Guo in a rented apartment in Jakarta. She was handed over to Philippine authorities, who flew her back to the Philippines. In the Philippines, Guo is facing allegations related to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming activities.
Her identity is also under scrutiny, with authorities referring to her as Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national who entered the country in 2003.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) previously confirmed that the fingerprints of former Bamban Mayor and Guo Hua Ping were identical. However, during recent Senate and House hearings, Alice Guo continued to claim she is a Filipino citizen.
In a recent Senate hearing, Guo denied being the mastermind behind illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations, stating she is a victim and implying the authorities may already know who is truly responsible.
According to a GMA News report, during the Senate hearing, Guo maintained her innocence, claiming she was neither guilty nor manipulated. She said that any assistance she provided was simply because she is naturally helpful.
Alice Guo appeared “shocked” after seeing her cell in Pasig City Jail. The former mayor had been ordered by a Regional Trial Court in Pasig City to be transferred from the PNP Custodial Facility in Camp Crame to a regular jail cell.
BJMP spokesperson, Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera, told ABS-CBN that the warden reported Guo was visibly shocked upon seeing her jail cell. Bustinera added that she likely did not anticipate the conditions of her detention. Guo is currently sharing her cell with six other Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).
“How was the first night of former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo in the Pasig City Jail? Tell us more about what happened in the last 24 hours,” the news anchor of ANC/ABS-CBN inquired.
“Well, after we sent her to her assigned cell at around 3:43PM yesterday, the feedback from our female warden there was that she was “shocked” with the conditions of her cell because I think she was expecting a different cell,” Superintendent Bustinera said.
“During the night, there was no incident reported to us as to any negative incident or any incident report. We have received no report yet so we believe she had a normal situation in the Pasig City Jail female dorm,” the BJMP Spokesperson added.
