Phillip Salvador is set to enter the political arena
Veteran actor Phillip Salvador was slammed by netizens after it was announced that he will run for senator in the 2025 elections.
Partido Demokratiko Pilipino or PDP recently announced that Phillip is one of the candidates for its 2025 senatorial lineup with Senator Bong Go and Senator Bato dela Rosa.
For many years Phillip has proven his versatility when it comes to acting. He has received awards and recognition for his acting caliber. Phillip was one of the famous action stars from the 1980s until the 1990s. He did some remarkable projects that curved his name in the industry as one of the most versatile actors.
Next year, he is set to enter the political arena at the national level just like his fellow actors like Robin Padilla, Jinggoy Estrada, and Bong Revilla.
In the past years, although Phillip Salvador did not run for any government position, he was quite active during the campaign period as he openly showed support for certain politicians.
However, the political plan that Phillip has for next year did not sit well with many netizens. On X, formerly Twitter, the veteran actor received criticism. Some netizens said that they cannot tolerate that another actor will be in the Senate.

A netizen pointed out that Phillip should focus on being a father to Joshua, his son with his former partner Kris Aquino, rather than attempting to be a public servant.

Some netizens also recalled the estafa case that was filed against the veteran actor by his former girlfriend Christina Castillo back in 2006. He was found guilty back then but his co-accused, his brother Ramon Salvador was acquitted for insufficient evidence.

Back in April, Phillip already expressed his plans to enter politics and he vowed to deliver efficient public service to the people. “Ako po si Philip Salvador, hindi po ako abogado, hindi po ako doctor, hindi po ako engineer, ako po’y isang artista ng PDP na magiging epektibong magserbisyo sa mga Pilipino,” the actor said.
