Aya Medel Had Brain Aneurysm But Survived

In a post, Aya Medel explains why she was inactive in the past months.

In an Instagram post, former ’90s actress Aya Medel was inactive in the past months because of an aneurysm but recovered and survived.

Aya Medel, a ’90s star or Rechie Hayakawa in real life, turned chef when she stepped out of the limelight. She started studying Culinary Arts in 2007 at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies. She proudly owns several restaurants.

However, this year, something unexpected happened.

In an Instagram post, she shared why she was inactive online in the past months and this is because of an aneurysm. According to Healthline, this is a “deformity of an artery where a spot in the arterial wall in the brain bulges and fills with blood.”

This is a condition that is potentially life-threatening. Medel confirmed in her post, “Yes! I had a brain aneurysm, but I survived.”

She did not detail how she recovered but accordingly, the treatment for this condition is surgery in order to prevent the rupture or to repair a ruptured aneurysm. The actress-turned-chef then thanked the people who were with her on this journey including her doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff.

“I know that I am one of the lucky few, and the day-to-day isn’t always so easy. But I planned to live my life to the very fullest,” she added in her post.
