Armi Millare Confirms She Has Rights to Perform Former Band’s Hit Songs

Armi Millare Asserts Her Right to Perform her Former Band’s Popular Songs

ARMI MILLARE – Original Pilipino Music (OPM) singer Armi Millare asserts she has rights to perform the hit songs of her ex-band.

Armi Millare is a Filipino singer-songwriter, pianist, and music producer, best known as the former lead vocalist and keyboardist of the popular Filipino band Up Dharma Down (UDD). Her unique, soulful voice and distinctive songwriting style have made her a beloved figure in the Philippines’ indie and alternative music scene.

She grew up in a musically inclined family, where her exposure to different genres of music began at an early age. She studied music and refined her piano skills, which became a key element of her style.

In 2021, Armi Millare left Up Dharma Down to focus on her solo career and explore more creative avenues. She has since released solo material and collaborated with various artists, both local and international. Her collaborations often span a wide range of musical styles, from electronic to soul and R&B. Armi’s music reflects deep emotional themes and often touches on love, introspection, and the human experience.

Based on a report from Philstar, the singer said that she holds the right to perform her previous band’s songs because she was the songwriter behind them.

After her recent performance at Hard Rock Café Manila, Philstar.com asked Armi about playing her old songs.

“Yes, of course because I wrote the songs so I should be able to play them. Now more mature I guess, iba ‘yung twist no’ng songs, I hope you liked it,” Armi said.

In addition to performing her iconic hits like “Tadhana,” “Unti-Unti,” and “Oo,” Armi also introduced new tracks, including “Off-Center” and “I Wanna Go.”

“It’s going to be love but now there’s more kinds of love. In other words, we’re exploring. Also love for self which is also a really good theme. I guess I wasn’t able to do so much back then. Now we’re getting to that,” Armi said about going solo and her new songs.

She also spoke about her personal growth as an artist, saying, “Of course, spirituality, ‘yung pagtingin natin sa mundo and mga tao around us,”

The new songs are part of her upcoming solo album, South-Node.

Armi will be returning to Hard Rock Café Manila S Maison for another performance on November 14. OPM artists such as Ice Seguerra, 6 Cycle Mind, Imago, The Dawn, Basti Artadi, Sitti, Nyoy Volante, Jinky Vidal, Joey Generoso, and Christian Bautista are also set to perform at the venue in the coming days.
