KOJC Legal Counsel Slams Chooks-to-Go Over Alleged Unethical Advertisement
The legal counsel of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) has called for a boycott over alleged irresponsible advertisement by Chooks-to-Go.
Recently, a Facebook user named Atty. Mark Tolentino, legal counsel for KOJC, publicly criticized the company for using the image of their founder, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, without permission to promote their lechon manok product.
Tolentino argued that the use of Quiboloy’s photo could be classified as cybercrime and demanded that Chooks-to-Go issue an apology. In a Facebook post, he called on the public, particularly KOJC members, to boycott the brand until they take responsibility for their actions.
As part of his statement, Tolentino gave Chooks-to-Go an ultimatum: apologize or face a lawsuit. He expressed disappointment in the company’s marketing strategies and stressed that such actions harm their reputation and are a violation of ethical advertising standards.
“Boycott natin ang Chooks-to-Go! This is an Irresponsible and unethical advertisement and considered as a Cybercrime! Chooks-to-Go, Apologize or face a suit!.” Tolentino said.
Following the backlash, the advertisement in question was quickly removed from Chooks-to-Go’s social media platforms. However, the company has not yet issued a public apology, fueling further frustration from KOJC members and others who support the boycott.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Chooks-to-Go has faced similar criticism. Previously, they were called out for using a photo of former Mayor Alice Guo in a promotional campaign without permission, raising questions about their advertising practices.
Many netizens have since voiced their opinions online, with some predicting that this controversy could have long-term negative effects on the company’s image. Despite the ad’s removal, the call for a boycott continues, with KOJC members waiting to see if Chooks-to-Go will respond to their demands.
