Young Man in Antipolo Dies After Alleged Fistfight with Fellow Teenagers

A young man in Antipolo City tragically lost his life after reportedly engaging in a fistfight with other teenagers.

Around 6:00 pm on Saturday, one of the two suspects was walking at Sitio Phase 1 Otso, Bonica Road in Brgy. San Isidro when he passed by the victim, who supposedly challenged him to a fight.

According to police reports, the suspect initially tried to avoid the situation but eventually engaged in the fight after being repeatedly provoked by the victim. Although witnesses tried to stop the brawl, it escalated when the second suspect arrived.

‘Yung suspect natin ay napilitang makipag-away na kasi nga pinipilit siya nung biktima natin na hamunin talaga,” Tagara said.

The victim was overpowered, and his head was slammed against the concrete, causing him to lose consciousness.

The victim was identified as 14-year-old Ar-Jay Tanteo, a Grade 7 student and resident of Sitio Maligaya in Brgy. San Isidro. The suspects, aged 16 and 17, turned themselves in to Brgy. San Isidro authorities, admitting their involvement in the fight.

However, they claimed they didn’t intend to cause the boy’s death, only expecting that he would be beaten up.

Ar-Jay’s family refuted claims that he initiated the fight. According to his brother, witnesses said that Ar-Jay was minding his own business when the suspects suddenly picked on him and punched him. In response, Ar-Jay defended himself, which led to the altercation.

After the incident, Ar-Jay managed to return home, but a few hours later, he began vomiting. He was rushed to the hospital, where he eventually passed away. His family is now grieving his loss, deeply hurt by the senseless tragedy.

“Sobrang sakit po, para po akong durog na durog… simula nung bata hanggang lumaki, ikaw ‘yung naggabay sa kaniya. Tapos parang kukunin lang nila na basta-basta ‘yung buhay ng tao,” Jovy Ann R. Juanerio, the victim’s sibling said.
