Benhur Abalos shared this post about Apollo Quiboloy
Netizens slammed Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos for sharing a post stating “nahuli na po si Apollo Quiboloy.”
On August 24, members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound after Pasig City court also issued a warrant for the arrest against him. After weeks of commotion inside the compound, a report surfaced that Quiboloy surrendered.

On September 8, it was reported that the PNP gave Quiboloy a 24-hour ultimatum. The negotiation started at 1:30 PM and around 5:30 PM, the religious leader reportedly surrendered to the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP.)

On Sunday, DILG Sec. Benhur Abalos shared a post on Facebook saying, “NAHULI NA PO SI APOLLO QUIBOLOY.” In the comment section of his post, many netizens shared positive reactions. They are glad that the religious leader was already arrested.

However, this did not sit well with some netizens. They stressed that Quiboloy surrendered and that it is different from being “arrested.”
Some also pointed out that Quiboloy surrendered to the AFP and not to the members of the PNP who had been raiding the compound for weeks now. There were also those who accused Abalos of credit grabbing.
Here are some comments from netizens against the statement made by Sec. Abalos in his Facebook post.

Based on the report from Inquirer, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), its spokesperson, Col. Francel Margareth Padilla had this statement on whether Quiboloy was arrested or surrendered.
“The AFP has been in full support of the PNP from the onset of the operation related to the case of Mr. Apollo Quiboloy. Our role in this matter has been purely in support of the PNP’s efforts in serving the warrant,” Padilla said.
The AFP spokesperson also said that they “defer to the PNP to provide the details and updates on the situation.” Padilla also expressed that the AFP will continue to assist law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and order.
