BGYO Accepts Apology From Basher Amid Cyber Libel Complaint

A netizen admitted posting malicious content against BGYO

Members of the P-pop group BGYO accepted the apology from one of their bashers amid the legal action they have started.

To recall, the all-male group, together with their all-female counterpart BINI received tremendous amount of bashing on social media in April 2024.

Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent management company that is handling the P-pop groups, released a statement condemning the malicious attacks online. The management firm also encouraged the public to refrain from spreading negativity and false accusations against the members of BINI and BGYO.

In June this year, the all-male group decided to take legal action against their bashers. They filed cyber libel and unjust vexation complaints against netizens who have been attacking them online.

In a recent press conference, the group, with their legal counsel Atty. Joji Alonso, faced the members of the media, based on the article in Abante. They were also with and one of the respondents Rachelle Galang who apologized to Gelo Rivera, JL Toreliza, Mikki Claver, Nate Porcalla, and Akira Morishita.

Galang also apologized to ACE’s, BGYO’s fandom, and Star Magic. “Boluntaryo akong nagpunta dito ngayon upang ipaabot ang aking mensahe sa BGYO na siya ring ikapapayapa ng aking pag-iisip at kalooban,” she said.

She also said that on April 23, 2024, she uploaded a video on TikTok containing hate, bashing and false accusations against the all-male group that were defamatory. Galang added on that night, she deleted the video with the feeling of regret as what was in the video was not true.

Ako po ay nagsisisi sa aking nagawa at gusto kong itama ang aking pagkakamali,” the respondent said. The group accepted Galang’s apology but they will continue their legal action against their bashers.

In a joint statement, members of BGYO said that they will retract the complaint against Galang as a consideration for her and her family. However, they will continue their complaints against other netizens.

With this, the group asked the public to “earn from this and stop spreading baseless and malicious allegations against other persons.” They also hope that through this, other victims of cyberbullying and malicious disinformation will be inspired to fight for themselves.
