Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo asked the help of Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos due to death threats.
During a Facebook live stream of Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos on Thursday, September 5, people saw how peaceful the encounter he had with arrested Alice Guo. To recall, Guo was arrested in Indonesia and was already turned over by the Indonesian police to Philippine government officials at the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police headquarters.
he former mayor, believed to be the Chinese national Guo Hua Ping because of their matching finger prints, was seen in the video asking for Abalos’ help. She was heard saying, “Sec, patulong, may death threat po kasi ako.”
“Titignan natin ito, kaya nga kumuha na kami ng private plane dito,” the secretary replied as heard in the video, however, the other words were not heard because some parts were muted.
She was arrested in a hotel in the early morning of September 4 and is expected to return to the Philippines on Thursday evening. During the transfer of Guo, she held her Philippine passport, the one she used to escape on August 17.
Guo will be accompanied by Abalos, Philippine National Police Chief General Rommel Marbil and officials of the National Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Immigration.
As per an update, she will face the Senate on Friday, September 6. A long list of complaints were filed against her and the Senate has an arrest warrant out for her which was issued in July.
A Tarlac court has also issued an arrest warrant for the dismissed mayor for violating the Section 3(e) and 3(h) of Republic Act 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. Each count has a bail of Php 90,000.00.
She is facing a human trafficking complaint and money laundering complaint filed before the Department of Justice.
