Carmi Martin refused the advances made by some producers in the past
Seasoned actress Carmi Martin revealed that during her prime in showbiz, there were producers who tried to take advantage of her.
Carmi was one of the popular sultry actresses in the 80s. During that time, she did many projects that boosted her career in the entertainment industry. However, based on her recent revelation on seasoned actress Snooky Serna’s YouTube channel, not all experiences she had were good.
Carmi admitted that she also received indecent proposals, based on the article in Inquirer. She was also asked about the harassment issue in showbiz that has become a hot topic in the industry these past few weeks.
Carmi Martin said that she has experienced when it comes to “exploitation.” “Meron akong mga invitation na ganiyan during that time,” she said, as she was a sultry actress at that time.
She also said that there were producers who tried to take advantage of her. “To the point na tinulak ko talaga at sinabi ko, hindi dahil ganito ako na sexy or pinapackage niyo as a s=xy star eh pwede niyo na akong ieexploit. So meron,” she said.
However, Carmi did not reveal the identities of the producers she was referring to. Then, she mentioned that many female celebrities were exploited in the 80s. These women were told to just have relationships with producers in order to have a better opportunity in showbiz.
She also revealed that there were production staff who asked her to completely take off her clothes in front of the camera. Carmi said that he was thankful that she had someone by her side back then to prevent this from happening.
“Mabuti na lang may makulit akong kasamang boyfriend, may hawak na baril. Alam mo ‘yung parating nagkakaroon ng mga ganong instances na buti na lang merong kontrabida,” she shared.
At times, her family would tell her about this. Carmi Martin said that she did not want her family to be mocked because of her work.
