Panelo Speaks on Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte
RODRIGO DUTERTE – Atty. Salvador Panelo claimed that there are calls for the Former President to run as the Vice President of his daughter, Sara, in the 2028 Elections.
The Dutertes is one of the most popular clans in the Philippine political arena. Currently, the Duterte siblings, Paolo, Sara, and Baste, all hold positions in the government.
Sara Duterte is the current vice president of the Philippines. His elder brother, Paolo City, is the representative of the First District of Davao City. Their youngest brother, Baste, is the mayor of Davao City.
It was just a few months ago when Vice Pres. Sara Duterte resigned from being the DepEd Secretary. Duterte admitted a mixture of both personal and work reasons in her decision to leave the Marcos cabinet and the helm of the Department of Education.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has previously spoken on her relationship with Pres. Bongbong Marcos amid questions on the real ties between them now. Her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, has also thrown strong accusations against the Chief Executive.
VP Sara is one of the potential presidential bets in 2028 based on surveys. Recently, former presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo revealed that there are calls for former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to run as the vice president of his daughter in the 2028 Elections.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Atty. Salvador Panelo admitted that he is one of those who push former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to run as the vice president of VP Sara Duterte in the 2028 Elections. He also revealed his advice to the former President.
According to the former Presidential Legal Counsel, he advised former Pres. Duterte to run for mayor of Davao City first in the upcoming elections then run for VP in 2028. At the press conference held in Quezon City, he expressed his confidence on the Duterte-Duterte tandem in 2028.
“Pag Duterte-Duterte, sigurado ‘yan, babalik sa inyo lahat ng bumaliktad sa inyo kasi napakalakas ninyo,” Panelo said.
Based on the report, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte did not give a direct response to the advice of Atty. Salvador Panelo. According to him, the former Chief Executive just told him to just continue his Duterte-Duterte advocacy.
Panelo stressed that the former President is open for everything and cannot be cornered on his plans as he never speaks about them.
